Bhumisparsha Mudra Bhumisparsha means 'touching the earth', it refers to the last temptation of the Buddha by the three girls (three sisters: desire, pleasure and passion), according to other sources of the demon Mara. The right hand is placed on the knee and the fingers touch the ground, the left hand remains flat on the Buddha's lap.
Bhumisparsha Mudra translated as earth touching gesture. By touching the earth, this mudra lets you witness the earth to clear the obstacles in the path. Among many mudras of Buddha, Bhumisparsha mudra was adopted by Buddha to achieve enlightenment under the bodhi tree.
