Vintage Napoleon Empire style Josephine Bonaparte Portrait Lamp made from a Sevres style porcelain vase with gorgeous swan handles. This hand painted lamp is green and white with lots of gold gilt. The ornate swan handles are decorated in gold, with gold bees, a gold crown on a pillow on the backside of the vase and gold laurel leaves framing both the portrait and the crown & pillow. It is a really lovely lamp.
There are no makers marks or signatures that I can find. It is a vintage style 2 bulb chain pull type lamp that works as intended. It has a gold cord and vintage style plug. It comes with a lovely quality ecru silk or faux silk fabric Empire style elliptical lined lamp shade edged with double layer covered top and bottom edges that is in excellent condition, and is topped with an ornate gold finial.
The porcelain vase itself is in excellent condition for it's age with no cracks, chips, crazing or scratches. The brass plated base of the lamp shows signs of age with some rust and missing areas of plating.
The lamp is 23.5" tall to the top of the lamp, 25.5" tall with the finial. The base is 4" square The widest part of the lamp is 7" wide from swan nose to swan nose. The shade is 15" long by 9" wide at it's base and 8" tall.
