After Gustav Klingert retirement, the business was carried on by his sons and grandsons until it was forced to close due to the outbreak of the Russian Revolution. The firm specialized in silver gilt, cloisonné and champlevé enamel snuff boxes, cigarette cases and tableware. Until 1899 Klingert used to mark his items with Latin characters GK, thereafter in Cyrillic.
Gustav Klingert (in Russian: Густав Клингерт),
originally from Germany, began his career working as a master for Faberge. In 1865 he founded his own factory in Moscow employing over 200 artisans and manufactured items worth 400,000 rubles. In 1889 he exhibited at the Exposition Universally in Paris where his works were granted honorable mentions. Four years later at the World Fair in Chicago, Klingert was described as one of the most important firms in Russia. Thanks to the large popularity received the firm started to export its wares in United States through Tiffany & Co. In 1896 Gustav Klingert was granted the Imperial Warrant.

Condition: The spoon is in good condition. It is was done many years ago, but anyway this spoon still in a good condition in corresponds to regarding its age. The silver is lightly gilt and the whole outside is covered with fine silver wire work filled. This is a lovely spoon.  The right side is marked with the Russian silver purity mark of 84” purity silver. A great exemplar to add to your collection! The best indication of condition is to study the photographs carefully. Spoon very attractive, even patina on both sides indicates the authenticity of the product. The details of the bas-relief are perfect and extremely crisp; practically all of the original gilt finish is present. A superb example all through. The gold retains beautiful luster throughout, is essentially perfect, no flaking, rubbing or any other noticeable wear. The spoon retains beautiful luster everywhere. There are a no bumps or scratches especially visible. It remains sound overall however, and in our opinion, add tremendous amount of character to the antique item. The best indication of condition is to study the photographs carefully, the pictures that are taken are also to be considered a part of the description of the item.

"Russian Imperial Moscow Spoon of using colored enamel and handcrafted technique”.  The spoon made of 84" solid silver, 56" plated with gold and with enamel traditional Russian art. Typical Russian Royal enamel ornament in decorative art work. Gilded Spoon with nicely twisted handle, the backside depicting enamel with beautiful patterns decoration. The fig - shape spoon bowl, decorated In the form of a picture of the flowers, in the there was a flowering of artistic metalworking (Enamel in silver, deep engraving, filigree, chasing, embossing, and gold and silver inlays in metal), particularly in the production and ornamentation of arms., accented silver gilt coils on a blue ground and waves of olive green enamel. Traditional twist handle terminates in an enamel crown-shape finial.
