Betley - A Coal Mining Village, by David Thompson

Booklet published by the Betley Local History Society, 46 pages. A4 size booklet (N3855X1)

This booklet provides an excellent social history of the Staffordshire village of Betley, and focuses on it's role as a mining village. Sections include:

The organisation of the industry
A day in the life of Joe Edwards of Betley - a coal miner for over 50 years
Coalminers and associated workers who have lived in the Betley-Wrinehill area
The collieries and pits at which the men from Betley and Wrinehill worked
An appendix detailing the colliers and coalminers who have lived in Betley-Wrinehill, as well as a list of members of ancillary professions and trades

The booklet includes some black and white maps and photographs

Condition of the booklet is generally very good. The covers have one or two minor scuffs, and some light wear along the edges and corners, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
