2015 Sir Winston Churchill 2015 UK £20 Fine Silver Coin

Sir Winston Churchill – the great British prime minister – whose leadership in the Second World War inspired Britain’s armed forces, reassured a nation and encouraged the support of allies that united for victory in 1945. Such an influential figure deserves to be honoured, and The Royal Mint has chosen Churchill as the subject for the third UK £20 fine silver coin to be available at face value.

Struck in 999 fine silver, struck to Brilliant Uncirculated standard, this is an official UK coin and a tribute to the man affectionately nicknamed the ‘British Bulldog’. The coin’s design by sculptor Etienne Millner features Churchill’s steely gaze, familiar and defiant. Struck to crisp Brilliant Uncirculated finish, this coin is sold at face value – £20 for a £20 – how else can such an excellent piece of art and history be enjoyed at such an achievable price? Only 200,000 of these coins will ever be struck. The first £20 coin sold out, and with so many wanting to continue the £20 series and many more wishing to honour Churchill, this coin is sure to prove just as popular.

In 1965 The Royal Mint struck a coin to commemorate Churchill’s passing, and now it strikes another to mark the 50th anniversary of the legendary statesman’s death. Sir Winston Churchill has been selected as the third subject for the recently introduced £20 coin. The first £20 coin sold out and the subject of this third coin will make it highly collectable. Only 200,000 of these special coins – limited to ten per household to ensure we can satisfy demand – will ever be struck. They will be sought out by Churchill enthusiasts as well as collectors of silver coins and, more specifically, collectors of the UK £20 coins.
