The Qatar 1 Riyal Banknote was issued in 1996. The obverse side features the countrys coat of arms with dhow, palm trees, and crossed swords. The reverse side features a traditional sailing vessel called dhow, the Foreign Ministry building, the Emiri Palace, and the Mosque of the Sheikhs. The note is 134 x 66 mm in size and is equipped with a solid security thread with printed QATAR CENTRAL BANK to enhance its security features.
