Once belonging to my dear late great-grandmother and old schoolhouse teacher Mary Catherine Hesson-Berry, this vintage original 1950s Mid Century Milk Glass Bubble Bowl by Anchor Hocking had been stored in her kitchen for many years in our old family home on Keystone Lake in Cleveland, Oklahoma. It is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or staining of any kind. I imagine she used it to serve her special Hesson family recipe for elegant, white divinity candy; the recipe from her family cookbook is as follows:

Mary Catherine's Divinity:

2 1/3 c. sugar
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
2/3 c. light corn syrup
1/4 t. salt
1/2 c. water
1 t. vanilla

In a saucepan mix sugar, water and corn syrup, add salt. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking without stirring until reaching the hard ball stage (266 degrees on candy thermometer). Gradually pour mixture over egg whites beating constantly. Continue beating until very stiff and mixture will hold shape when dropped from a spoon. Stir in vanilla. Pour into a buttered 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Makes 1 1/4 lbs. or 16 pieces. Let stand until firm, cut.
