Description
We offer this original vintage CLIMAX BRAND hand cut wooden jigsaw puzzle with its original box. Parker Brothers of Salem, Mass. began producing hand-cut jigsaw puzzles in 1887. Better known for its Pastime Puzzles, the Climax brand seems to have been introduced in the early 1900's. This puzzle titled "Don't Tangle that Yarn" is copyrighted 1904 (that is, the picture is dated 1904). The image is by H. Kanyd (or Kanyo?). Shows 2 older women and a man rolling up balls of yarn, and having a good time.
The puzzle measures 6 x 8 inches. There are presently 61 pieces with possibly 3 missing (one additional piece is broken and missing an end). The printed label only states "over 50 pieces".
The box measures 6 x 5 x 1-1.2 inches. The top is printed Parker Brothers' CLIMAX individually cut Picture Puzzle (By The Maker of the World-Famous PASTIME Puzzles). A paper label on the box end has the title and the count. Note that inside the cover is, in pencil, "42,H, 75, 11-4-25". We believe that this note is a record of someone working the puzzle. The other note, a more recent ball-point ink note says "61 pcs., + 3 missing".
Box has wear and loss of two sides to the cover. Puzzle wear consistent with age and use. Some minor paper loss, chips etc. Just okay condition. Please look at our pictures for more detail.
We can combine orders which are paid for and shipped at same time, to save on the shipping.
