6 Vintage 1953 C & A Crofts & Assinder Cast Iron Backplate & Ring Drawer Pulls
I purchased the furniture in the last photo at a garage sale so that I could have the drawer pulls. The pulls are made of cast iron or perhaps steel and have a single post on the ring pull. They are nearly 70 years old. Each pull has a nut to secure it on the inside of the drawers. Only 3 covers remained over the screws on the inside of drawers and they are included in package. The pulls are both 3" long and wide. They were lightly brushed over with 0000 steel wool and a quick-drying solvent was used on a cotton swab to clean out the dust from the crevices. These drawer pulls are marked with an Rd number which is the English Registry number for a registered design. The British manufacturer, Crofts & Assinder (C & A), Rd number on this set is 871129 which sets its registry at 1953. Crofts & Assinder has been around since 1875 and remains in the metals manufacturing business today. They have a rich patina and there is some rust on one of them.
