This is a like new old stock (NOS) vintage refurbished back by Apple for the most rare very first iPod Steve Jobs announced to the world 20 years ago.
Each of these original Apple shiny backs read M8541 and 10GB on the back. This could be the last trove of these rare backs in existence.
(The rarest of the 1st generation iPods are the 10GB which held 2,000 songs, twice the memory of the more common 5GB. Both were sold in 2002 and have the spinning wheel (or scroll wheel; not the later 2nd generation touch wheel)).
This is a rare opportunity to renew your vintage 1st generation 10GB iPod to near new condition.

You may want to replace the old battery (many are available on eBay) while you have the back off. The replacement process is pretty self explanatory on these first iPods.
