Music Reference RM-5 MK II Tube Preamplifier with Phono

SkyFi Audio - Curators of Vintage Audio GearSkyFi Audio is a small startup business specializing in the purchase, reconditioning, and reselling of high end audio equipment. We only buy equipment that we admire and are passionate about. No mid-fi, no gimmicks, no junk. Each piece of equipment is cosmetically restored and fully tested in our well-equipped lab by an engineer with 30+ years of experience in the HiFi world. If it does not meet or exceed the original manufactures specifications, it will not be sold. We are very selective about the equipment we purchase, focusing on mostly analog, high-build quality, American, and European built units.Through our sister company, which is an authorized dealer for McIntosh, Audio Research, Sonus Faber, ClearAudio, Project, and Sony ES, we have access to OEM parts, service, and support.----------Excellent and collectible all tube preamp from designer Roger Modjeski. It features an all tube design with a built in phono stage with all-around great build quality and execution. We also have the which would make for a great system. Internal switches allow custom gain adjustments for 2, 7, 14, 18, and 26 dB. This is currently configured for 14 dB and we can modify before shipping (just write a note during checkout).Description from the similar MK III: Music Reference developed the RM-5 preamplifier based on sound engineering principles following years of research. Our challenge was this: How to provide excellent sonic performance at a price that represents a great value to the audiophile. The electrical sections of the RM-5 are the phono RIAA equalizer, phono amplifier, and the line amplifier. Each active stage was designed with a power supply, which exceeds its requirements, by a factor of ten. Thus, each stage is ultimately over-load proof and stable under dynamic and line voltage extremes. The result: an accurate sound stage with precise focus on individual instruments. The RM-5 is built to standards well beyond its price. All controls are custom-made and are plated for long life and low noise. All chassis components are mil spec anodized. Circuit boards are mil spec also. The RM-5 front panel lettering is made by a process, which guarantees long life. Unlike most panels in which lettering is silk-screened onto an anodized or painted panel, our Anofax process puts the lettering into the aluminum with a two-color process. Therefore, it can never wear off. Your preamp will look like new forever. Our one-board construction, with minimum point-to-point wiring, provides extremely high reliability. Control functions are logically placed to facilitate easy connection and operation. Logic circuitry is incorporated to drive the automatic and manual muting, assuring freedom from switching noises, line voltage drops, and preamplifier power-up. The rugged electrical and mechanical design assure years of trouble-free use. And the fine sound delivered by the RM-5 will never become obsolete.
