scenario:Dai versanti collinari di Bordeaux alle Valli della
California, i grandi vini sono prodotti dagli stessi grandi viticoltori.
Per attenuare la disputa tra vecchio e nuovo ed evitare una sterile
guerra di parole tra mondi diversi, perché non apporre semplicemente una
firma su un vino, quella del suo creatore, un nome che dirà al
consumatore più di una percentuale di Cabernet o Sauvignon, un volto che
fornirà un'identità più facilmente della facciata di un castello. Da
questa linea di pensiero è nata l'idea della Collezione Vignaioli: "The Winemaker's Collection". Ogni
anno, sempre sullo stesso terroir quello di Château d'Arsac nel Médoc un
enologo ospite ha "Carte Blanche" per creare il vino ideale, il nettare
dei suoi sogni. Dal lavoro in vigna all'operazione di imbottigliamento,
dal momento e dal tipo di vendemmia fino alla macerazione, questa guest
star prende ogni decisione nel processo di produzione. Lui o lei firma
il vino con il loro unico nome: NTSIKI BIYELA in questo caso.
Nata in un villaggio nella provincia sudafricana di KwaZulu-Natal, Ntsiki Biyela è diventato uno di questi
i principali produttori di vino del suo paese dopo aver conseguito la laurea in enologia all'università di Stellenbosch con grande forza di determinazione e duro lavoro. È diventata anche la prima donna nera enologo del Sud Africa. È stata responsabile della cantina boutique Stellekaya, non lontano da
Città del Capo, dal 2004. È stata anche nominata Enologo dell'anno in Sud Africa nel 2009.
The scenario
From the hill sides of Bordeaux to the
Valleys of Californian, great wines are made by the same great
winemakers. To attenuate the argument between old and new and to avoid a
sterile war of words between different worlds, why not simply affix a
signature to a wine, that of its creator, a name which will say more to
the consumer than a percentage of Cabernet or Sauvignon, a face which
will provide an identity more readily than the façade of a château. From
this line of thinking was born the idea of the Winemakers' Collection.
Each year, always on the same terroir the one of Château d'Arsac in the
Médoc a guest winemaker has "Carte Blanche" to create the ideal wine,
the nectar of his or her dreams. From the work in the vineyard to the
bottling operation, from the time and type of harvesting through to the
maceration, this guest star makes every decision in the manufacturing
process. He or she signs the wine in their sole name. Each year, an
episode will be written and acted out by a different winemaker: NTSIKI BIYELA in this year (2013):
Born in a village in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, Ntsiki Biyela became one of
the leading winemakers in her country after obtaining her oenology degree from Stellenbosch
University and by dint of determination and hard work. She also became South Africa's first
black female winemaker. She has been in charge of Stellekaya boutique winery, not far from
Cape Town, since 2004. She was also named South Africa's Woman Winemaker of the Year
in 2009.
