Vintage: Royal Vale was manufactured by Ridgway Potteries for less than a decade, only from 1955 to 1964
Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. We often add graphics such as arrows, circles, and text boxes to our photos to point out things of interest that might be hard to see, such as a price tag or maker's mark, as well as to highlight many condition flaws. Very clean and fresh pieces, with bright and shiny metallic gold and white. All of the plates show light wear consisting only of completely colorless scratches to the glaze on the white body; a few scattered light scratches to the gold verge and trim and/or a few light rubs. The plates are free of chips, cracks, gray/silver utensil marks, stains and crazing. All of the saucers are in near-mint to mint condition, showing zero to the lightest possible signs of use. The plates appear to be the only pieces that were ever used, as the cups are also near-mint to mint condition, with two exceptions -- one has a chip on the foot (put there by us during the photo shoot!) and another has some wear to the gold rim. A very nice set in great condition, really, with the exception of the chipped footed cup, sigh.
We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
