An ABS sensor is fitted to each wheel of a vehicle equipped with an ABS system. The sensor itself is linked to an ABS Ring, which is fitted to the brake rotor. Both of which work to help prevent the car from skidding under heavy braking.
In many cases traction control and electronic stability control are linked with your ABS Sensors, so if they fail, it is likely to affect these also.
Due to their position, they are subject to wear and tear. A failed sensor can be dangerous, and it is recommended that you change them sooner rather than later.
