Symbolizing the union of a happy marriage, this decorative green and amber Chinese wedding bed roof tile from the Ming Dynasty, circa 1368 to 1644. These tiles were placed at the intersection of two roof lines, attached by inserting wooden roof beams into the rectangular holes in each side. Measuring 19"h x 17.5"w x 7.5"d (48+cm x 44.5cm x 19cm)) without base (which measures 18 x 11 x 1) and weighing nearly 48 lbs, this piece is a large example of these roof tiles. The size and bright colors made these visible on the roof from a distance. Exact age is unknown, but estimated to be in the early 1600s.

In overall great condition, there are minor nicks and chips that can be seen on sharp edges and corners in the photographs, likely from normal wear and tear in its original location.
