This is a Heywood-Wakefield China Cabinet in birch and featuring the more rare circular handles, with a champagne finish comprising a Server which was manufactured from 1940-44, and a China Top that dates from 1941-44.

The first thing to address are the caster wheels. After almost a year of trying to get to the bottom of the mystery, and originally thinking they weren't original, I found a forum where an original Heywood-Wakefield employee explained that caster wheels were a factory option, and not uncommon despite not appearing in sales literature. I'm not saying the wheels are definitively as per the original sale, but there is the chance that they were not a later addition.

There is some light wear and tear to both of the pieces that make up the cabinet, although there is only one area of significant concern. From a distance, it looks presentable and perfectly liveable. Up close, it has a few small stories to tell (all pictured). Starting at the top, there is some lacquer loss and there are rings from flower pots. The glass doors are the originals, but there are two small chips to the leading edge of one door. There is wear to the lacquer on the adjustable shelf, and the clips that support it aren't the originals. There are scuffs and scratches throughout, all consistent with the age of the piece, but I will flag up the split in the left hand side vertical panels of the China Top, and there is a bit of wear to the lower rear horizontal bar of the China top. There is a small dent to the right hand side of the China Top too. The worst offenders have been pictured. The cabinet has been the victim of an unsuitable finish too...Danish Oil / Restor-a-Finish / That kind of thing. It was cleaned gently.

With a restoration it'd look stunning. I'm a big fan of this modernist cabinet and would dearly love to keep it, but I don't have a suitable spot for it - and there's already a long queue of furniture awaiting some attention.

The piece came from a smoke-free home and is free from foul odours. It measures in total, 65" in height, 32" wide and 18" deep. As a topple hazard it would be advised to find a way to anchor this cabinet to a wall if you have children.

This listing is for a china cabinet. No other items visible in the pics are included.

This account is new and at the time of writing has no feedback. I've been selling on eBay for over a decade and have loads of great feedback at my Dadmancult_Art store. Also, I see there is a warning that item location and seller location are being flagged as being different. I've been all around the houses with eBay trying to sort this issue, and it's a problem with the short and long versions of the zip code. Rest assured this item is in 05446, and I am in 05446.
