sticky condition. read below.

This unit was owned by me years ago for Geocaching. The batteries leaked while in storage over the years. The device got sticky. I cleaned up some of it with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush but after some success, gave up.

I cleaned the leaked battery with lemon juice. I put some new batteries in and it works fine. It feels a little slow but perhaps that’s just me used to smartphones.

I cannot attest to whether this unit is still waterproof as it was originally intended to be.

Note the black marks and discoloration on the unit. The black marks began to form when I was scrubbing it with a toothbrush.

It will need some work to clean it up again.

The unit has not been updated in YEARS. Hopefully there is some update.
