Designed by the team of Aleksandr Rodchenko (1891-1956), the famous artist and photographer of Russian Avant-garde, and Varvara Stepanova probably for the 1939 New York World's fair as a propaganda piece to show that the USSR was a military superpower just prior to the outbreak of WWII.
