Condition:  Rostov Enamel Finift Icons Panagia with Oklad, Good quality with good heavy silver weight and beautifully decorated. Typical silver with Cyrillic maker's mark « ПМ » and hallmarks Silver mark 84” Makers mark initialed and Marked: Hallmarks Rostov Moscow Kremlin Bishop's House (the Rostov Kremlin) jeweler factory. The silver around the medallion has a finely detailed enameled lace church-Christian religious ornament, the center of the icon is decorated with an enameled medallion from the Rostov Monastery with amazing images of St. MITROFAN OF VORONEZH and ST. TIKHON OF ZADONSK. The item is in good condition for its age, and did not have any repairs. Lovely condition, with no splits or solder repairs, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents. It is was madid many years ago, but anyway this Enamel Panagia still in a good condition in corresponds to regarding its age. The best indication of condition is to study the photographs carefully.

The interior is definitely original, virtually still intact and it has a relief Jesus Christ. Excellent quality with good heavy silver weight and beautifully decorated.  Typical silver with Cyrillic maker's mark and hallmarks of Silversmith Moscow Rostov Bishop's House (the Rostov Kremlin). The exterior has a finely detailed relief images of the Raised Jesus. The silver retains beautiful luster throughout. The best indication of condition is to study the photographs carefully. An ancient Orthodox icon with the images of the Holy Wonderworkers Mitrofan of Voronezh and Tikhon of Zadonsk was painted for Russian pilgrims in the second half of the 19th century.
With a high degree of probability, this icon was made in the icon-painting workshops at the Voronezh Annunciation Cathedral. The icon is in very good collectible condition.

Russia has long been a leader in production of enamel and silver, especially Rostov icon painting.  In Russia, nice enamel objects were considered to be the most expensive and valuable. The exterior has a finely detailed enamel medallion with the Two Saints images of the decorated around a silver frame inlaid with colored enamel e Church Christian religious ornament. Lovely condition, with no splits or solder repairs, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, just a few little shallow surface bruises, really nothing much at all and a very nice example.

Rostov enamel is a traditional Russian folk art craft. There is no consensus among scientists about the origin of this name. Some adhere to the instructions in Fasmer's etymological dictionary of the Russian language, according to which "finift" comes from the Greek χυμεύω (himeo) - "mix". Others believe that it arose from another Greek word, φέγγος (phengos), which means "shimmer". Both of these interpretations of the term complement each other and explain what enamel is. For its manufacture, a vitreous mass (enamel) is mixed, and the finished product itself will shimmer, flicker in the light.

The art of enamel - enamel decoration - came to Russia in the 10th century from Byzantium, where it was called "fiery writing". In Rostov, they began to study in the 18th century. The workshop that existed at the Moscow-Rostov Bishop's House (the Rostov Kremlin) carried out only church orders: church utensils, religious book cases, priests' vestments were decorated with enamel miniatures. By the middle of the 19th century, art craft was developing in Rostov, new workshops appeared. Production is now occupied not only by the clergy, but by merchants, peasants and artisans. They bring their worldview, their concepts of beauty and icons. Products of local craftsmen - small icons-images become widely known. They come true to numerous pilgrims to local shrines, they are supplied to monasteries throughout Russia. The production of large multi-part icons, miniature copies of famous paintings has also been arranged. At the beginning of the 20th century, with the advent of the Art Nouveau style, which seeks to aestheticize every household item, to make it a work of art, Rostov enamel began to decorate everyday objects. At the exhibition you can see one of these - a paper knife.

Saint Mitrofan is the heavenly patron of St. Petersburg. The icons of Mitrofan of Voronezh helped and continue to help the obsessed and the paralyzed, as well as people with mental and physical ailments, to be healed. Mitrofan of Voronezh helps in various everyday difficulties, Orthodox prayer helps him take care of the future of children, the well-being of children in society. They pray to this saint for Christian mercy, for the good nature of power and government, for well-being in society, for help in finding work, for creating their own family of adult children (daughter, son). The days of memory of St. Mitrofan of Voronezh are celebrated on August 7/20 (first finding of relics), September 4/17 (second finding of relics) and November 23/December 6.

 With special hope, they turn to St. Tikhon of Zadonsk with a prayer for the healing of spiritual ailments: depression, drunkenness, insanity, demonic possession. Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk is the heavenly patron of monks and church clergy, missionaries and catechists, seminary students. They pray to Saint Tikhon for the gift of meekness and gentleness, ascetic deeds, for deliverance from any illness, but especially from mental illness: sadness and despondency, from getting rid of alcoholism and drug addiction, mental insanity and possession. St. Tikhon helped a considerable number of people regain their sight and the ability to walk; they also turn to him for help in extreme need and poverty.

Святитель Митрофан является небесным покровителем Санкт-Петербурга.  Иконы Митрофана Воронежского помогали и помогают исцелиться одержимым и расслабленным, а также людям с душевными и физическими недугами. Помогает в разных житейских трудностях Митрофан Воронежский, православная молитва ему помогает заботиться о будущем детей, о благосостоянии детей в обществе. Этому святому молятся о христианском милосердии, о добром характере власти и правительства, о благополучии в обществе, о помощи в нахождении работы, о создании своей семьи взрослых детей (дочери, сына). Дни памяти святителя Митрофана Воронежского совершаются – 7/20 августа (первое обретение мощей), 4/17 сентября (второе обретение мощей) и 23 ноября/6 декабря.
С особой надеждой к святому Тихону Задонскому обращаются с молитвой о врачевании душевных хворей: депрессии, пьянства, помешательства, беснования. Святитель Тихон Задонский – небесный покровитель монахов и церковного клира, миссионеров и катехизаторов, студентов семинарий. Святителю Тихону молятся о даровании кротости и незлобия, аскетических подвигах, об избавлении от любых болезней, но особенно от болезней душевных: печали и уныния, от избавления от алкоголизма и наркомании, душевного помешательства и беснования. Немалому количеству людей святитель Тихон помог вернуть зрение, и возможность ходить, к нему также обращаются за помощью в крайней нужде и нищете.
