These steel, nickle plated hooks are very strong  and have other uses as well as boots.  They can be fixed to wood and walls.  They are very useful for fastening items down with lightweight rope, cord or bungee straps.  They can also be used on period costumes for lacing bodices etc.

Suggested Fitting Instructions For Repairing Boots, Etc.

You do not require any special fitting tools, just a firm flat surface and a hammer.  Just push the rivet through the hole from the back of the fabric and add a hook facing outwards (you may need to strengthen the hole first if the original hook damaged the boot when lost).  Now place the rivet cap on the rivet stem and push it on firmly and as far on as possible.  Now tap the rivet cap gently but firmly with the hammer until the rivet closes up into the cap and the boot hook cannot be twisted.  Job Done.

We do stock rivet fitting tools if you require the rivet cap to remain rounded but usually for this type of job eg. hooks on boots, etc. appearance is not important. The use of a tool is for appearance only and makes no difference to the strength of the finished job.
