At the start of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Anti-Monitor is unleashed on the DC Multiverse and begins to destroy the various Earths that it comprises. The Monitor tries to recruit heroes from around the Multiverse but is murdered, while Brainiac collaborates with the villains to conquer the remaining Earths. However, both the heroes and villains are eventually united by the Spectre; the series concludes with Superboy-Prime and Alexander Luthor Jr. defeating the Anti-Monitor and the creation of a single Earth in place of the Multiverse. Crisis on Infinite Earths is noted for its high death count; hundreds of characters died, including the original Supergirl and Barry Allen (the Flash). The series was a bestseller for DC. The story is credited with popularizing the idea of a large-scale crossover in comics. Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985) Issue #1, published April 1985, is written by Marv Wolfman, with art and cover by George Perez. This is it, the biggest, and arguably most important, event in the history of the DCU. A wave of unstoppable destructive force is sweeping across the multiverse and indiscriminately destroying everything in its path. Nothing seems able to stop it. The Crime Syndicate of Amerika (evil versions of the JLA) of Earth-3 die trying, along with their world. Batman receives an ominous warning from the Flash. Weather and natural disasters are out of control. An eclectic group of heroes and villains from around the multiverse are assembled to halt the death and destruction, and the being known as the Monitor may be the only one who can help them. 1st appearance of Alexander Luthor. Featuring the deaths of the Crime Syndicate of Amerika and Lex Luthor of Earth-3. First Printing.

Legends (1986) Issue #1, published 1986, is scripted by Lein Wein, with art and cover by the great John Byrne.  Darkseid once again reigns supreme on Apokolips, but the legendary super-heroes of Earth remain a thorn in his side. Thus, he begins Operation Humiliation. Firestorm battles Brimstone, Flash takes on Deadshot, and Captain Marvel (in his first post-Crisis appearance) fights Macro-Man. Legends was designed to kick off three new ongoing series (The Flash, Suicide Squad, and The Justice League) and a mini series (Shazam: A New Beginning).

DC Universe Zero (2008) Issue #0, published June 2008, is written by Grant Morrison and Geoff Johns, with art by George Pérez, Tony Daniel, J.G. Jones, Aaron Lopresti, Ivan Reis, Philip Tan and Carlos Pacheco. Featuring a lead into the Final Crisis series. Cover price $0.50

Millennium (1987) Issue #3, published January 1987, was written by Steve Englehart, with layouts by Joe Staton and finishes by Ian Gibson. This is week three of DC's companywide crossover of 1987. The Outsiders and other heroes battle the Manhunters, who were created years ago by the Guardians as a force for good, but are now dedicated to evil. The heroes must stop the Manhunters from destroying the ten special chosen ones who have been selected to advance the human race.

Millennium (1987) Issue #8, published February 1987, is week eight of DC's companywide crossover of 1987. The chosen ones finish their instruction and are transformed into such costumed heroes as Gloss, Ram, and Jet.
