Here we have a scarce, very-vintage, nearly antique, mustard jar with lid and underplate (3-piece set) from Wedgwood (Etruria, England) in the Sunbirds pattern, designed by Sir Charles Holmes (1868-1936) illustrious museum director, artist, and founder of Studio magazine. We have more pieces in this pattern available in our store, as shown in the last photo, including covered bowls, platters, soup bowls, and dinner, salad, and bread plates, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost.

Maker/Marks: Wedgwood/please see photos

Vintage: 1931

Approximate measurements: please see photos with rulers for measurements

Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. We often add graphics such as arrows, circles, and text boxes to our photos to point out things of interest that might be hard to see, such as a price tag or maker's mark, as well as to highlight many condition flaws. Bright, shiny and stunning, with fantastic coloration. In remarkable condition for its age, far better than typical. No cracks, stains, silver/gray utensil marks, or noticeable scratches. Lid has blemish at the spoon insert on top -- tiny round spot on the red glaze that is either a glaze pop or a very thin flake to the glaze, possibly a bit into the pottery, which would technically be a chip. Very light crazing to all three pieces, so light that it can only be seen upon close inspection. Very light tan curved stain to the center of the underplate -- also requiring keen eyesight to see. Some completely colorless scratches scattered in the interior, the kind that are visible only when the piece is held up at just the right angle to a direct, bright source of light.

We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
