A C19th antique jug or pitcher made by J&M.P.Bell & Co (John & Matthew Perston Bell) Glasgow Pottery to commemmorate the marriage of Edward, Prince of Wales to Princess Alexandra of Denmark on 10th March 1863.
The low relief jug was probably made close to this date and stands approximately 8.25 in (210 mm) high to the top of the handle with a maximum width of 7 in (178 mm).
It features portrait medallions of both the Prince and Princess with lustre decoration including sprays of roses, shamrocks and thistles.
The jug is in good condition for its age with overall fine glaze crazing and probable firing flaw in glaze to rim which does not really detract (see photo) and some wear to the handpainted green lustre decoration.
A rare piece of Royal memorabilia for someones collection, display etc........
