This film produces vivid, highly accurate colour images shot in daylight or under electronic flash (5500 degrees kelvin) and is claimed by Kodak to be one of the world's finest grain colour negative films. The speed of 400 ISO and extremely fine grain plus the universal processing process enables extraordinary opportunities to get stunning images in daylight with a fully professional colour film emulsion. Even more creative possibilities are achievable by uprating the 400 ISO speed to 800 ISO or even 1600 ISO (with the appropriate adjusted processing). Plus the availability of universal processing world wide via the Kodak C41 process or equivalent. This is Cinestill's LATEST COLOUR NEGATIVE FILM RELEASE and is becoming extremely popular already since its release a couple of months ago. Though at this speed of 800 ISO or even 1600 ISO obviously with some small loss of contrast and some more graininess. However at the rated speed of 400 ISO the contrast, fine grain, colour and sharpness are excellent as this is the speed that this film was designed for.
So what does all this mean for the advanced amateur & non-professional user (as professionals should know all this stuff already)? Well, it has an incredibly fine grain rating for a true 400 ISO general use colour negative film, wide-exposure latitude & "superb skin tone reproduction" (which speaks for itself when using it for pictures of people). It also has superb archivability (i.e. keeping quality) if stored properly and it's negatives will yield superb prints for at least 80 YEARS so image retrieval is not a problem (unlike digital). This Cinestill film still maintains today the great standard of quality that KODAK are famous for due to to all these outstanding features. Cinestill 400D for Dynamic colour photos.
