On offer: an original (i.e. not a later reproduction) antique print "Conspectus Haghiensis; inxta Orphanotrophium ad Catarractas." and to the right "Gezicht bij het weeshuis, op het Spui.", Den Haag. 

DATE PRINTED: c.1700

SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 16 x 13 cm (6.25 x 5 inches) plus margins with a blank back (small).   

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Around 1700 Johannes van Call (Nijmegen, ante 1656 - Den Haag (?), 1703) made some 70 drawings of Rhine landscapes and Dutch cities. The Amsterdam publisher and engraver Petrus Schenk loved these views and selected 71 to be published in a book: Admirandorum quadruplex spectaculum.

PROVENANCE:  Published in "Admirandorum quadruplex spectaculum" by Pieter Schenk I (1660-1718/19). Schenk was an engraver and mezzotinter who became a major publisher of prints and maps.

TYPE: Antique copper plate engraving printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side.

CONDITION: Good; suitable for framing. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian maps and prints are subject to some normal aging due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated. I offer a no questions asked return policy.  Small hole in the sky area.  Margins a little tight.  Priced accordingly.
