African blackwood aka Dalbergia melanoxylon with a janka hardness of 3,670

 lbf (16,320 N) commands high prices on the commercial timber market. The

 timber is used mainly because of its maintainability, density, dimensional

stability, and moisture repellent. Those properties are particularly valued

 when used in woodwind instruments, pipe making, pool cues etc.
