Description:

AWARD from USSR “GUARDS / ГВАРДИЯ”, HANDED to SOLDIERS to OFFICERS of the SPECIAL FORCE.
The red enamel is essentially perfect and shows beautiful luster. The white enamel has tiny internal hairline fractures, but they are practically invisible to the naked eye and are not affecting the integrity of the enamel. The original gilt finish on the obverse is beautifully preserved and bright. The screw post is full length and includes original early screw plate maker marked "Pobeda Factory, Moscow".  Guard's Badge, Have Brass Metal and Soviet Old Russia Tradition Too Color Enamel. Historical Award from 1970 -1990 year. In brass and enamels, screw back construction. Reverse shows maker mark "MMD" (Moscow Mint).   The dark red enamel is of distinctly high quality

The Guards units (Russ: Гвардия), Guardia were again awarded to units and formations which distinguishing they in during the Second World War by the order of People's Commissar for Defense and were considered to have Elite Status.  On May 21, 1942, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR introduced Guards ranks and Guards badges to be worn of the right side of the chest. In June 1943, they introduced the Guards Red Banners for the land forces, and in February 1944 for the naval forces.
