Harold Newhouser (May 20, 1921 - November 10, 1998) is considered one of the most dominant pitchers during World War II winning the American League’s Most Valuable Player Award in back-to-back seasons (1944, 1945) and capturing the Triple Crown in pitching in 1945. He remains the only pitcher to win the MVP twice in a row. Newhouser played for the Detroit Tigers (1939-1954) and the Cleveland Indians (1954-1955). He was a seven –time All-Star selection and was a member of the 1945 World Series champion Tigers. Newhouser went 2-1 with 22 strikeouts against the Chicago Cubs in the 1945 Fall Classic.
