For auction is an antique wooden holder for glass plates as the resultant photographs were being developed. There is no maker's name that I can find. There is a needle on the rear that (I assume) was used to measure or mark the passage of time. It has two clips on the back that are used to secure the plate to the frame. There is a piece of one corner missing but the piece is still sound and it does not affect the aesthetics of the piece. It measures 7" by 10".
