Rudolf Serkin recorded the complete Beethoven piano concertos twice, and this recording is the first one from the complete Beethoven cycle that Ormandy and Bernstein recorded with a common conductor.

The "Emperor" was recorded before this recording with Walter (1941), Ormandy (1950), and Seiji Ozawa (1981).

Here we can hear the dashing Bernstein conducting and the hot and exhilarating "Emperor" exchanges.
