Description:
This is a simple English corkscrew with a turned wood handle and a forged decorative shaft.  Robert Jones from Cheapside, Birmingham, England was one of the most important English manufacturers of corkscrews.  The dating of this corkscrew is based on the fact that R. JONES "& SON" first appeared in 1840 and the last record of this business was in 1905.  It is marked on the shaft "R. JONES & SON".

Size and Weight:
5 1/4" total length, 3 3/4" wide handle.
1 1/2 ounces.

Condition:
In GOOD condition.  There is scraping on one side of the wood handle and chips on the handle ends on the same side; shaft moves slightly in the handle.  Worm is long and intact with a sharp point.  Please see photos for a complete description.
