Heavy table lamp that aficionados of warm copper and brass skins may feel drawn to and enticed with deeply incised floral, flame or arrow adornments arranged in a distinct and uncluttered manner across the surface of the base.  The edge is scalloped and houses an apparently customized iron weight that mirrors the unusual shape of the base.  This matching feature is quite rare.  The column is made of brass and is topped with couplers of the same metal; these appear to be newer installs.  The socket looks to be of the original period and has not been tested as the cord has been severed.  

This base will serve as an excellent foundation to finish the lamp.  Suggestions for restoration follow below.  I have given it a cursory cleaning and leave the rest to the buyer's discretion.

I acquired this piece with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business. I am saddened by its departure but also delighted it may be lovingly received and put to good service by new caretakers.  This listing is for a genuine artifact of a bygone era that will be a pleasure to welcome into a new home.
