Cyprus potatoes, also known as 'Cypriot potatoes', are delicious potatoes hailing from, as the name suggests, Cyprus.

These potatoes are medium to large in size, and are round in shape. They have smooth, light brown-reddish skin - the red hue is due to the red soil they grow in - and firm flesh that, once cooked, has a buttery, tender texture and a flavour that is rich, fresh, and earthy. The particularly distinct, appetizing flavour of Cypriot potatoes is attributed to the aforementioned mineral-rich red alluvial soil in which they are cultivated; this belief has made Cyprus potatoes very sought after, so much so that they are the country's main food export!

Consumed in a similar way to other potato varieties, we would particularly recommend using them to make a Cypriot-style potato salad and delicious crispy potato wedges.

Like other potatoes, Cyprus potatoes are an excellent source of fibre and potassium, and also provide good amounts of iron, folate, and vitamins C and B6.
