Material: The badge is in aluminum, paint and lacquer;  Authentic real USSR Badge BRASS HOT ENAMEL, military strategic material remnant of the past Epochs of USSR , brass metal has artificially gold plating, the legendary artifact is covered by real Russian hot red ruby enamel. Raised mint mark "MMD" (Moscow Mint) to the reverse. A nice example of late issue badge, attractive and well-made.

Condition:   "GUAEDS" RED BANNER AWARD is VERY ATTRACTIVE.  Excellent collectible condition, guaranteed original. Overall condition truly exceptional find. Details are well defined with original finish. A superb example all through. The award retains beautiful luster everywhere. There are a no bumps or scratches especially visible. The twist and screw device are original and completed.  It is was awarded many years ago. AWARD from USSR “GUARDS / ГВАРДИЯ”, HANDED to SOLDIERS to OFFICERS of the SPECIAL FORCE.
The red enamel is essentially perfect and shows beautiful luster. The white enamel has tiny internal hairline fractures, but they are practically invisible to the naked eye and are not affecting the integrity of the enamel. The original gilt finish on the obverse is beautifully preserved and bright. The screw post is full length and includes original early screw plate maker marked "Pobeda Factory, Moscow".  Guard's Badge, Have Brass Metal and Soviet Old Russia Tradition Too Color Enamel. Historical Award from 1970 -1990 year. In brass and enamels, screw back construction. Reverse shows maker mark "MMD" (Moscow Mint).   The dark red enamel is of distinctly high quality.

The Guards units (Russ: Гвардия), Guardia were again awarded to units and formations which distinguishing they in during the Second World War by the order of People's Commissar for Defense and were considered to have Elite Status.  On May 21, 1942, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR introduced Guards ranks and Guards badges to be worn of the right side of the chest. In June 1943, they introduced the Guards Red Banners for the land forces, and in February 1944 for the naval forces.
