FULLY IN GERMAN

Volume 8 of a 14-Volume set with the overall title, Die Altniederländische Malerei, which translates to, Old Dutch Painting.  This volumes features the art of Jan Gossard and Bernart Van Orley.  FIRST EDITION, published in 1930 by Paul Cassirer, Berlin, authored by Max J. Friedlander.  Lacking dust jacket - I saw one set being offered with dust jackets, so I assume this was originally published with one.  Otherwise, in EXCELLENT CONDITION.  Clean eggshell white boards with blue spine cloth, clear gilt spine titling and decoration front board and spine.  Text to page 198, with the remainder being glossy B&W plates.  There are 97 Roman Numeral glossy pages, and plates are numbered to 152, but obviously there are not 152 plates - one can see gaps in the numbers such as a plate number 115 followed by a plate number 121.  The last sections in the text include bibliographies and works, and I think the full collection of plates covered in the book are numbered in these sections - there are plates described numbered 115 to 121 for example, but not all the works are shown in the plate section.  That's my best guess.

On the last blank endpaper of the book, there is a handwritten note dated 1937.  I don't know if this inscription is associated with the book specifically - author, publisher, etc - or it is a personal inscription.  See listing photo.  There are no other markings in the book.
