This simple and effective tool will allow you to identify the poles of pickup magnets and to check polarity of installed pickups.

All you need to do is move the polarity tester near the pickup's poles and watch the little magnet inside indicate the polarity. The red side will indicate the magnet's North pole and silver side will indicate the magnet's South pole.  It only needs to be near the pickup magnet to work correctly. 

  By indicating the north or south magnetic orientation of a pickup's polepieces, this polarity tester can help you avoid incorrectly wiring pickups that are magnetically out of phase. All guitar customisers and tweakers NEED one of these in their tool box especially if you do a lot of work on guitar pickups!
