Spanish American War Collection. US Artillery. Medals, Papers & Tunic

A great, encompassing collection that chronicles the service of an American Artilleryman.

Named to Corporal Maurice Cunningham, Company G, 2nd Battalion of Engineers. Including National Archive copies of Register for enlistment's roll call, enlistment documents, personal correspondences, studio and unit photos.

(1) M1899 Khaki Enlisted Tunic. Red Artillery shoulder straps. Some staining and missing 3 buttons.

Corporal Cunningham's medals include: (1) Cuban Army of Occupation medal numbered "7566" on the rim. (1) Philippine Insurrection medal, numbered "29870" on the rim. (1) Spanish-American War service medal, numbered "11101" on the rim. (1) Society of the Army and Navy Union of the US membership medal. (1) United Spanish-American War Veterans membership medal.

A more knowledgeable Collector has come forward to share further information  regarding the medals' assignation to this soldier. His concern was that "all of the numbers are out of range for the Issue Records and therefore cannot be confirmed that they were issued to this soldier, unless you have research or documents from the archives that confirm that these numbered medal were issued to this soldier.  That would be the only way to confirm that they were awarded and issued to this soldier."

I am not an authority in this Era but I bought this collection from an established and respected auction house. This begs further research which is beyond my depth. Any information regarding these medals would be greatly appreciated. I leave it for your consideration but I have never knowingly sold anything that is eratz.
