In this work, three new derivatives (ligands) of Lascorbic acid (vitamin C) and their metal complexes have been synthesized and characterized. The first ligand is Bis[O,O2,3;O,O5,6(N,Ndicarboxylicmethylidene)N2methylene pyridyl]Lascorbic acid (LP), was synthesized by the reaction of Bis[O,O2,3;O,O5,6(chloro(carboxylic)methylidene)]Lascorbicacid (starting material) with one mmole 2Picolylamine. The second ligand is Bis[O,O2,3;O,O5,6(thiol(carboxylic)methylidene)]Lascorbic acid (LS), was synthesized by the reaction of Bis[O,O2,3;O,O5,6(chloro (carboxylic)methylidene)]Lascorbic with excess of sodium sulfide. The third ligand is Bis[O,O2,3;O,O5,6(acetate(carboxylic) methylidene)]Lascorbic acid (LA), was performed by the reaction of Bis[O,O2,3;O,O5,6(chloro (carboxylic)methylidene)]Lascorbic acid with two mmoles sodium acetate and The biological activities of these ligands LP, LS, LA and some of their complexes which are (Co2+, Cu2+, Cd2+) performed against two types of pathogenic bacteria are Staphylococcus aureus (Gram Positive) and Escherichia coli (Gram Negative) in a nutrient agar medium.
