Rare LeCoultre Atmos clock circa 1960-1980, probably 1967 or close to it. This piece is a rectangular gilt brass mantel clock wound by barometric pressure changes. LeCoultre Atmos, Serial No. 229008 and indicates, "Fifteen 15 Jewels VXN" and "Switzerland Unadjusted" etched on the mechanic . Fine, rectangular, gilt brass and glass Atmos clock wound by barometric pressure changes. The metal is marked "LeCoutlre & Cie Metal Caliber 528-8 Swiss" on the bottom of the clock.

The movement was substantially revised at this time to use ethyl chloride bellows, and this basic design would remain in production throug 1983, with over 500,000 examples produced.

The Atmos VI, VII, and VIII consists of the caliber 528 and the 528/1 represents the Atmos VIII. Serial range from 70,000 to 599,999. The important point here is that these were the last of the "genuine" Reutter design Atmos made and production stopped late in 1983.

In late 1983, LeCoultre totally resigned the Atmos and came up with the 540 caliber. They also stopped the practice of labeling the models numerically (Atmos 0 - Atmos VIII)
