from 1943 

This advertising page was by the Diesel divisions of General Motors; Electro-Motive Division (EMD), Cleveland Diesel Engine Division and Detroit Diesel Division.  

The ad has a small color painting of a farm tractor. The main painting shows a Currier and Ives (?) print of the old-time steam locomotive, Best Friend of Charleston, and a larger new diesel locomotive. This one is a Southern Railway System EMD FT 6100.  

Ad text starts “There’s something new in the picture” and goes on about the war promising new innovations, in this case diesel train engines.  

This ad is full page, approx. 7” x 10”, carefully removed from an actual 1943 magazine.
