An antique map of Germany extending from the Baltic and the North Sea to the Rhine and east to Hannover and Brandenberg with a decorative cartouche, a compass rose and a mileage scale.

DATE PRINTED: 1747.

SIZE: The printed area including titles is approx. 33 x 23 cm, 13 x 9 inches (medium) plus margins.

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER:  Drawn by Emanuel Bowen (1694-1767), mapmaker to King George II and Louis XV (France), and his most distinguished work is the System of Geography from which this map came. His output was prolific and he produced several English county atlases, in some of which he was assisted by his son Thomas.

PROVENANCE: A map published in ' A Complete System of Geography', published in London, 1747.

TYPE: Antique copper plate engraving printed on laid paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank.
