1836 RARE - "A CHRISTMAS DINNER" by 24 yr old CHARLES DICKENS - NEW YORK MIRROR

We are offering you this rare Dickens item.  This Christmas themed novella is written by Charles Dickens.  He was 24 years old when this was written and published in 1836.   "A Christmas Dinner" had previously been published in other magazines/newspapers in England.  Its first appearance in America was in book form, "Sketches" which seems to have been a pirated edition.  That was the first book of his to be published in America, being released in February, 1836.  This appearance in the New York Mirror may have also been published without Dicken's knowledge or approval.   This Christmas story appeared about seven years before his legendary "A Christmas Carol" was written and published.

This appearance in the December 24, 1836,  New York Mirror, marks one of the earliest appearance of Dickens in America.

Besides the numerous stories, there are many shorter articles and commentaries.  On the back page is the weekly musical contribution with music and lyrics.
