Held at Sotheby's global headquarters in Manhattan, the nearly three-hour 'Driven by Disruption' auction presented 31 pioneering automobiles and select memorabilia before a house packed with bidders from around the world.
The event generated an amazing $73.5 million in sales with 31 of the world’s finest motor cars on offer. Along with the most expensive car sold at auction in 2015, the historic ex-Fangio 1956 Ferrari 290 MM, a new benchmark was set for Janis Joplin's 1964 Porsche 356 SC selling for an unprecedented $1.6 million.
The hardcover catalog is designed to match the caliber of the vehicles in the sale, featuring 250+ pages of fantastic photography and detail and a colorful photo montage cover with "NYC" die-cut through the sturdy book board. Catalog measures approximately 9" x 11 3/4" x 3/4" (23cm x 30cm x 2cm). In beautiful, new condition.
