Description

Official Participation Medal of the 2nd British Empire Games (nowadays the Commonwealth Games), held in London in 1934. I would say that this medal was in extremely fine (EF) condition or thereabouts, but please take a good look at my photos and form your own opinion of its grade. There is no case.

Made from Bronze, Diameter 45 mm, Weight 41.2 grams. Medallists F Phillips of Aldershot.

The obverse shows a female figure dressed in robes and holding aloft a laurel crown. She is standing in front of an arch supported by Corinthian columns. Draped around the columns are the names of all 16 of the competing nations. Around the periphery is a scroll bearing the legend "British Empire Games" and at the base "London / 1934". The reverse is plain, apart from a pair of laurel branches and the medallist's details in tiny script at the base.

500 competitors from 16 nations competed in 6 sports at the London Games, making this a very rare medal. Further details can be found online.

Shipping is by tracked mail (Royal Mail International Signed-For, or Special Delivery in the UK). All my medals are guaranteed genuine. Please see also my Olympic Participation and other sports Medals in my eBay shop. If you purchase more than one of these you only need to pay the shipping costs for a single medal.

We aim to dispatch within one working day of receiving your payment. Please check out my feedback ratings or contact me if you have any doubts.
