1978 Greco EG1000B Les Paul Custom style Guitar w/ Maxon Pickups, Split Diamond Inlay, Gigbag

For sale we have a Greco EG1000 in a striking Ebony finish, with gold hardware. Based off a 70’s Gibson LP Custom, this guitar shares all the vibe and appeal of one of Rock’s greatest guitars, at exponentially greater value! Guitars like this were the subject of a high profile lawsuit between Gibson and a multitude of Japanese guitar manufacturers. This guitar features the “Open Book” headstock design that was the subject of intense scrutiny during the trial. Nowadays, these guitars are highly sought after due to their high quality and limited availability, in the states.

The guitar is in great shape, with only a few small dings in the usual spots (bottom of the body near the output jack, back of the body). The front of the guitar is thankfully free of any visible finish issues aside from some mild rag rash. There is, however, a hole that was drilled for a strap button on the back of the neck heel with an imprint of a strap button. It’s well drilled, with no rough edges, and isn’t chipping in any way. The gold hardware has developed a nice patina, and has been well kept, so there’s no rough corrosion or rust. The pickups in this instrument sound positively massive. At some point in it’s life, a previous owner removed the pickup covers, probably for better tone. During this era of production, Greco was using Maxon pickups, which are prized for their clarity and body. They punch right through a mix when run through a hot amp. These are especially great sounding without the covers interfering with the magnetic field.

The guitar has been professionally setup with fresh strings set to low action, the fretboard has been conditioned, and the frets have been polished. The electronics have been cleaned, as well.  A gigbag is included for easy transportation.
