Prohibition Era 1930's Schuchardt Patent "Kirby" OLD SNIFTER Corkscrew & Bottle Opener
Chromed
 Negbaur Turning Head
Made in U.S.A.
Description:
This figure holds an umbrella and has a bottle opener between the hands and the top of the umbrella.  It also has a corkscrew which rises from the back of the man's coat as the head is manually turned clockwise.  It is commonly thought to represent Andrew Volstead, the Minnesota Senator known as the "enforcer" of the Prohibition law.  Most probably it actually depicts the 1920 political cartoonist Rollin Kirby's "Mr. Dry".  This model was invented by Schuchardt of New York.  It is in a chromed finish which is not magnetic.  On the underside of the umbrella are the markings:

"MADE IN U.S.A. PAT'D" and "NEGBAUR, N.Y."

It is marked "OLD SNIFTER" on the base.

Size and Weight:
5 5/8" high.
6 1/4 ounces in weight.

In EXCELLENT condition.  Please see all photos for a complete description.

I gladly combine shipping for U.S. buyers if practical and cost effective.  Unfortunately I cannot combine multiple international purchases into one box and still use eBay's International Shipping Program, so multiple international purchases will be shipped in separate boxes with separate shipping costs.

Ask any questions before purchasing. Item is sold as-is.  Returns are not accepted.

The shipping rate is the result of a careful process (including weighing and finding packaging) meant to give the buyer the most economical and exact rate.  The item will be thoughtfully and properly packed and shipped.

For International buyers - Please check for customs duties for your country.  I use the eBay International Shipping program.  I ship your purchase(s) to eBay; eBay prepares all paperwork for export; and eBay bills you for international shipping, customs, taxes (information that is not available to me).  International buyers are responsible for checking the customs policies of their countries.
