Brand new catalog for the Gooding and Co. Monterey, California, auction, Saturday, August 14, 2011. A not-to-be-missed highlight of Pebble Beach week, the 2010 Gooding & Company auction set several world records, and was again, two nights that most in attendance (or even watching online) will never forget. Catalog measures approximately 8.5" x 11" x 1" (22 x 28 x 2.5 cm). In beautiful, new condition.
As with all of David Gooding's wonderful catalogs, extensive descriptions and background are provided for each model and specific car. A minimum of two pages is devoted to each car, with expansive multi-page layouts with numerous exquisite photographs provided for all significant lots.
The 2010 Gooding Monterey auction sales exceeded $64 million, with three cars that sold for over $6 million each and set world records for auction sales prices. Saturday's sale featured a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider, shown on the catalog cover at speed with David Gooding at the helm. This Ferrari sold for $7.26 million. Other record-setting Saturday auctions included a 1951 Ferrari 340 America Spider ($2.53 million) and a 1937 Jaguar SS100 ($1.045 million).
Sunday's entrants in the $6 million plus club were a 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza ($6.71 million), and a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta SEFAC Hot Rod ($6.1 million). A 1928 Mercedes-Benz S Boattail Speedster sold for $3.74 million, with a 1995 McLaren close behind at $3.57 million.
