This watch is one of the rarest timepieces in my collection, a very hard to find a Mathey-Tissot from the 50s in all original NEAR NOS condition powered by the super caliber Valjoux 72C. The movement is in amazing condition! It's extremely hard to find one like this!

The dial is perfect, it's either enamelled or varnished, it's a very rare dial from that time.

Mathey-Tissot was a very important watch manufacturer back in the days. They've won lots of prizes for their chronographs, they were also a supplier for U.S. Army and the Royal Navy.

One of the most important achievements was the manufacturing of the Breguet-labeled Type XX watches and the Girard-Perregaux examples as well! They've also sold a very small batch of Mathey-Tissot Type XX, they are super rare!

In 1969/1970, Elvis Presley bought a few dozens of Mathey-Tissot day/date watches customized with his name inscribed on the bezel from his Memphis jeweler, Harry Levitch, and gave them to the family, friends and staff to grant the bearers a privileged access to his concerts and the backstage. The special bezel had his name in raised letters and four stars.

Valjoux 72C was used by Rolex in the 50s for one of their icons, ref. 6036 'Jean Claude Killy'.

The case is 14k solid rose gold, the champagne dial with applied gold indexes is absolutely original and perfect, all the hands are original and never repainted. The last service was in 06.2023. All Chrono and calendar functions are working as they should.

This is the second variant of the Valjoux 72C from the '50s and you can set the day and date with the same upper left pusher depending the pressure you put. The pointer date can be set with the lower left pusher.

The case is 36x43mm, it's on a very good condition quality leather strap with a SS rose gold colour buckle. The crown and all 4 pushers are all original and in excellent condition!

The watch is signed on the dial, inside the case back and the movement.

For an 70 years old watch, this one is in amazing condition and ready to wear!

There are very few Valjoux 72C watches in this condition worldwide, you have a unique opportunity to buy one!

General terms and conditions:

*I describe my watches with honesty and the best of my knowledge, I want all my buyers to have a smooth, transparent and pleasant transaction. If you have questions or other requests, please ask me before you buy. I don’t accept returns, partial refunds or buyer's remorse, so, if you are not sure you want to buy one of my watches, please don’t do it.

**You are buying a vintage watch, you can’t expect to look as new unless is stated in the description. Pictures are part of the description, please study them carefully! Generally speaking, the watches are looking much better in real life than in the pictures because of the camera lens which pops out details that can’t be seen with the naked eye. If it’s something misrepresented by me, just send me a message, I will really appreciate your contribution. Vintage watches are not water protected, I don’t offer any guarantee about this. Vintage mechanical watches are not running like a Quartz, please do not expect to be perfect even if they are serviced and very well taken care of. The performance on the timegrapher must not be taken as a guarantee for future functionality. Although I pack my watches very carefully, issues may appear during shipping on long distances, the most common is the watch magnetisation, but, being sensitive and complex movements, in rare occasions other adjustments should be made by an experienced watchmaker. I am not responsible of ANY customs/import taxes.

***Please refrain from making ridiculous and uneducated offers. Check the market prices first. I am a deal maker, but only with serious people.
