Here is one of the rarest Universal Geneve Tri-Compax with moonphase, a legendary watch among collectors!

This reference, 12285, is one of the very few with a 37.5mm case WITHOUT the crown!

According to the serial number on the case, the watch is from 1949 or 1950! UG manufactured Tri-Compax with moonphase for decades in various references, but a 37.5mm case is super hard to find. Even in the '60s, they've made them in 36mm. The usual size is 34-35mm.

The watch is all original and in STUNNING condition as you can see in the pictures. The dial is original and never restored, it developed a superbe and even tropical patina. Unlike most of the others, this one doesn't have even one scratch or hairline on the dial! Also, the patina is far less visible under natural daylight.

The hands are all original, gold, blued and red, with a light patina on the gold.

The solid 18k rose gold case appears to be unpolished in excellent condition with clear and deep punched reference number and serial! The lugs retain the faceted original finish.

The movement is the famous 481, with Glucydur balance and Breguet hairspringit runs excellent, all the functions are running as they should, it's very clean as you can see. It has been serviced in 05.2023, you can see the performance in the picture.

The size of the watch is 37.5x45mm. It comes on a new brown leather strap.

This model is one of the most important in the history of watchmaking, any collector should have one, it's a GRAIL watch!

General terms and conditions:

*I describe my watches with honesty and the best of my knowledge, I want all my buyers to have a smooth, transparent and pleasant transaction. If you have questions or other requests, please ask me before you buy. I don’t accept returns, partial refunds or buyer's remorse, so, if you are not sure you want to buy one of my watches, please don’t do it.

**You are buying a vintage watch, you can’t expect to look as new unless is stated in the description. Pictures are part of the description, please study them carefully! Generally speaking, the watches are looking much better in real life than in the pictures because of the camera lens which pops out details that can’t be seen with the naked eye. If it’s something misrepresented by me, just send me a message, I will really appreciate your contribution. Vintage watches are not water protected, I don’t offer any guarantee about this. Vintage mechanical watches are not running like a Quartz, please do not expect to be perfect even if they are serviced and very well taken care of. The performance on the timegrapher must not be taken as a guarantee for future functionality. Although I pack my watches very carefully, issues may appear during shipping on long distances, the most common is the watch magnetisation, but, being sensitive and complex movements, in rare occasions other adjustments should be made by an experienced watchmaker. I am not responsible of ANY customs/import taxes.

***Please refrain from making ridiculous and uneducated offers. Check the market prices first. I am a deal maker, but only with serious people.
