Order of the Double Dragon

It was established on February 7, 1882 by the decree of Emperor Guangxu.

It was awarded to people who rendered outstanding services to the Manchu dynasty.

Initially, it was planned to award this order only to foreign nationals,

who were in the service of the Qing or, through their actions, provided China with significant

services. In addition, the highest degree was awarded to monarchs and members of the ruling

houses of foreign powers. After China launched active reforms

to modernize the public life of the country, in 1908 a decree was issued according to which

awarding the Order of the Double Dragon was also extended to subjects of the Qing Empire.
